Bio

Carlos Teixeira was born in Porto, Portugal. He initiated his musical studies at age 9 learning the recorder and later the guitar. It wasn’t until his teens that he discovered his passion for the flute. As a young musician he took part in different music formations and performed throughout Spain, Italy, France, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, England and Brasil.  

At age 22, under the guidance of Professor Marco Pereira, he won his first audition for the flute position in the Portuguese Army Concert Band, where he worked for the next five years receiving a Commendation for his high level technical-professional skill, excellent human relations and always maintaining extraordinary performance. Conciliating studies with work, he completed his bachelor degree in music performance by Universidade de Évora, in Portugal, where he studied with Professor Anabela Malarranha, and toke part on the Erasmus Program at The Lemmensinstituut in Belgium.

He continued his studies in The Netherlands at the Maastricht Academy of Music, where he got his master degree in the class of Philippe Benoit. As a complement, Carlos attended to a large number of Masterclasses and Workshops with virtuosos such as: James Galway, Peter Lukas-Graf, Wissam Boustany, Robert Winn, MIchael Cox, Rien Reede, Thies Roorda, among others.

During his musical career, Carlos has been teaching and performing with various ensemble and orchestral formations. Covering repertoire from Baroque to Latin Jazz, he performed internationally Through Europe, Middle East and South America. 

He currently lives Dubai, where he is a teacher for Victoria International School of Sharjah, Deutsche Internationale Schule Dubai and flutist for the Dubai Chamber Orchestra
