Carlos Teixeira was born in Porto, Portugal. He initiated his musical studies at age 9 learning the recorder and later the guitar. It wasn’t until his late teens that he discovered his passion for the flute. In order to make up for the late start, he continued his regular studies at night to dedicate his day to the study of the instrument.
At age of 22 he won his first audition for the position of principal flute in the Portuguese Army Band, where he worked for the next five years. Conciliating studies with work, he completed his bachelor degree in music performance by Universidade de Évora, in Portugal, and the Lemmensinstituut in Belgium, achieving a personal record of 195 performances in a year.
He continued his studies in The Netherlands at the Maastricht Academy of Music, where he got his master degree in the class of Philippe Benoit. As a complement, Carlos attended to a large number of Masterclasses and Workshops with virtuosos such as: James Galway, Peter Lukas-Graf, Wissam Boustany, etc.
Over the last 10 years he has been performing through Europe, South America and Middle East. He now lives in Dubai, where he performs and teaches flute and chamber music.
